Job Purpose
Waste Management Solutions (WMS) is an established and growing waste management company, providing cost-effective, compliant and sustainable waste management solutions to businesses throughout the UK.
We are looking to recruit an organised and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our Finance Team.
Working closely with the Finance Controller, you will provide comprehensive day-to-day support across the finance function, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. This is a varied role that requires excellent organisational skills, a methodical approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous accounts experience who is looking to develop their career within a growing and supportive business.
Key Responsibilities
· Process supplier invoices, matching them to the company database and accurately entering them onto Sage 50.
· Generate customer invoices using Sage 50 and the company's bespoke sales order processing database system.
· Maintain the sales ledger
· Manage credit control activities.
· Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure financial records remain accurate.
· Accurately enter financial information into accounting systems and other databases.
· Assist in maintaining the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded correctly.
· Support the Finance Controller with day-to-day finance administration.
· Maintain organised financial records and documentation, both electronically and in hard copy where required.
· Liaise professionally with suppliers, customers and colleagues regarding finance-related queries.
· Assist with other finance and administrative duties as required.
Qualifications
Essential
- Previous experience working as an Accounts Assistant or in a similar finance role.
- AAT (Association of Accounts Technician) qualified, or willingness to work towards achieving AAT certification with the support of the business.
- Experience using Sage 50 accounting software.
- Strong data entry skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good understanding of basic accounting and financial principles.
- Experience maintaining sales and purchase ledgers.
- Experience in credit control
Desirable
- Experience working within a busy commercial office environment.
- Experience using bespoke accounting or business management systems.

· Demonstrates discretion when handling confidential financial information.
· Has a positive attitude and a willingness to support the wider business where required.
