Junior Material Buyer

Salary range: £32,000 - £35,000 per year
We are currently seeking proactive and detail-oriented Junior Material Buyer to join our team and support our procurement function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in quantity surveying, materials purchasing, or engineering to take the next step in their career.
Role Overview:
As a Junior Material Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials required for our construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure that materials are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the required quality standards. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build their career in material procurement within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing construction materials for ongoing projects.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery.
- Track material costs and assist in budgeting for procurement.
- Ensure that materials are delivered to the correct site locations within agreed timelines.
- Work with project teams to ensure materials meet the project specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of orders, deliveries, and supplier agreements.
- Assist in resolving any issues with material supply or quality that may arise during the course of the project.
Candidate Requirements & Key Skills:
- 1-3 years of experience in material purchasing, quantity surveying, or a related role in the construction industry.
- A background in Quantity Surveying (QS), Material Procurement, or Engineering is desirable.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of construction materials, suppliers, and industry standards.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with experience using procurement or project management software a plus.
- A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
