Join Tetra Tech’s Water Consultancy business and build your career in a hands-on technical role supporting pressure management and leakage detection across the East Midlands and East Anglia, including Nottingham, Leicester, Peterborough, Northampton and Cambridge. Working alongside experienced technicians, you will help deliver field-based water industry work as part of a team of engineers, modellers and data analysts. Over time, you will build confidence in using specialist equipment, developing your technical knowledge and contributing more independently to field activities. Longer term, this role offers the opportunity to develop a lasting career in the water industry, supporting major AMP8 programmes and future AMP9 delivery while making a positive impact across communities in the region.
Core Capabilities:
- Technical aptitude – Interest in mechanical, plumbing or practical technical work, with the ability to learn how to use specialist leak detection, pressure management and data logging equipment.
- Fieldwork and safety awareness – Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and carry out hands-on tasks safely, including work in confined spaces, on highways and potentially at night.
- Organisation and reliability – Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads, follow instructions and complete tasks accurately and on time.
- Communication and teamwork – Clear written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with experienced technicians and wider project teams.
- Development mindset – A willingness to learn, develop professional knowledge and build a long-term career in the water industry.
Skills, qualifications and experience:
Expected: GCSEs in Maths and English at grade 4/C or above, and a full UK driving licence.
Desirable: Mechanical and/or plumbing experience.
Work patterns and locations:
The role is field based across the East Midlands and East Anglia, covering Nottingham, Leicester, Peterborough, Northampton and Cambridge.
