We are looking for a reliable and capable Part-Time Cook/ chef to join our kitchen team at Common Bar & Kitchen in Blackpool.
This is a small, independent kitchen with a compact menu and a close knit team. We don't operate a traditional brigade or section based kitchen, so you'll need to be comfortable getting involved across prep, service, cleaning and the general day to day running of the kitchen.
We're looking for someone who can work confidently without constant supervision, follow recipes and specs, maintain good standards and remain organised during service.
The Hours
Blackpool is a seasonal town, so the hours will vary throughout the year.
Typically, you can expect:
- Peak season: approximately 25–30 hours per week
- Quieter periods: approximately 16–25 hours per week
- Additional hours may occasionally be available to cover holidays, sickness and busier periods or across our other sites.
This role would suit someone looking for reliable part-time kitchen work rather than someone requiring guaranteed full-time hours throughout the year.
What You'll Be Doing
- Preparing and cooking dishes consistently to our specifications
- Supporting prep and service across the kitchen
- Maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation
- Following food safety, allergen and hygiene procedures
- Completing kitchen checks and due diligence records accurately
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and service-ready
- Managing stock rotation, portion control and wastage
- Working closely with the Kitchen Manager and wider venue team
- Helping maintain a calm and organised kitchen during busy services
What We're Looking For:
We're less interested in impressive job titles and more interested in whether you can actually do the job well.
You should be:
- Experienced in a commercial kitchen environment
- Reliable and punctual
- Confident working independently when required
- Comfortable working in a small kitchen
- Able to follow recipes, specifications and portion controls consistently
- Organised during prep and service
- Knowledgeable about food hygiene and allergens
- Willing to get involved with all aspects of the kitchen
- Available to work evenings and weekends
Previous chef or cook experience is required, but you do not need to come from a traditional restaurant brigade background.
What We Offer:
- £13.50 per hour
- Paid holiday entitlement
- Staff discounts across our venues
- Straightforward menu and kitchen operation
- Opportunity for additional hours during busier periods
- Opportunity to develop within an independent Blackpool hospitality group
- Weekly pay
