This role is for a permanent, part-time position (3 days/week) and is paid at £30,000/year FTE, £18,000/year actual.
Grounds Management
1. To have joint responsibility with other grounds staff for the management of the School’s grounds, including the managing the sports pitches and the soft landscaping to a high standard.
2. To work within the set budgets ensuring value for money and that work is completed to a high standard
3. To identify areas for improvements including landscaping lawn maintenance or efficiencies with the grounds equipment.
4. To be responsible for supervising appropriate sub-contractors that are undertaking works to the pitches, tress or lawns ensuring work is completed to a high standard and to a high standard, reporting any issues to the head of facilities.
5. To take collective responsibility for the overall management of the School’s grounds equipment, ensuring it is in good condition and is compliant with statutory regulation. Proactively completing tasks and reporting issues to the Head of Facilities to agree best solutions.
Health & Safety Management
6. Ensure the grounds specific risk and COSHH assessments are up to date and that any chemicals and fuels are stored safely.
7. Ensure all equipment is well maintained and safe to use.
8. To supervise landscaping sub-contractors ensuring they follow their risk assessments and that their site is safe prior to work beginning. Communicating with teaching staff to advise of any potential disruption.
9. Ensure paths and roads are clear of debris, ice or snow and safe to open each morning and through out the day.
Risk Management
10. Work with the Head of Facilities to ensure that operational risks are controlled including plant disease monitoring, extreme weather preparation, succession planning and equipment replacement programs are all in place
