Job Purpose
The Support Worker will provide practical and emotional support to Adult residents living within our exempt accommodation service. The role involves helping residents maintain their tenancy, develop independent living skills, access services, and achieve agreed support outcomes while ensuring the accommodation remains safe, clean, and well-managed.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Support
- Deliver a minimum of 1 hour of housing-related support per week to each resident in accordance with exempt accommodation requirements.
- Manage a caseload of approximately 16 residents, increasing to 25 residents as the service expands.
- Complete weekly support sessions and maintain accurate support notes, risk assessments, wellbeing checks, and action plans.
- Support residents with:
maintaining their accommodation,
budgeting and managing finances,
accessing Universal Credit and benefits,
attending appointments,
improving independent living skills,
accessing education, training, employment, and healthcare services.
- Encourage residents to work towards agreed goals and positive move-on outcomes.
- Housing Management & Welfare
Carry out resident welfare checks and property visits.
- Monitor resident wellbeing, safeguarding concerns, and tenancy compliance.
- Report anti-social behaviour, maintenance issues, safeguarding concerns, and health & safety risks promptly.
- Assist with resident move-ins, inductions, and move-outs.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and supportive living environment.
Administration & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date support records and case notes.
- Ensure all support delivery meets exempt accommodation and supported housing standards.
- Participate in audits, team meetings, supervision, and training.
- Work in line with safeguarding, confidentiality, GDPR, equality, and health & safety policies.
- Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience working with vulnerable adults or within supported housing, homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, or social care services.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Ability to manage multiple residents and maintain accurate records.
- Strong communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
****QUALIFICATIONS:
MUST HAVE LEVEL 3 IN ADULT CARE/ HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE.
Other qualifications desirable - Mental heath awareness, Substance Misuse, Safeguarding Adults.*******
Knowledge of exempt accommodation or housing benefit-supported housing models.
