Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the care and well-being of animals in our facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and possess strong customer service skills, as you will also interact with pet owners. This position requires physical stamina, including heavy lifting, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for our greyhound guests.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
- Maintain cleanliness in the kennel area by regularly cleaning cages, kennels, and common areas.
- Monitor the health and behaviour of animals, reporting any concerns to the Manager
- Assist with the intake and discharge of pets, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their animals' needs and well-being.
- Supporting other members of staff and volunteers
- Follow all safety protocols to ensure the well-being of both animals and staff.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in animal care or a related field is essential
- Full driving licence essential.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks as required (up to 25 kg).
- A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their welfare.
- Basic knowledge of veterinary care is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
