We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre, located in Gatwick.
Parking on site, working within the Immigration estate, challenging and fast paced environment, good induction and good pathways for career enhancement. Working in a team of 15 and working with a wide range of healthcare professionals.
Dealing with triage, managing and contributing to detention centre management of risks of suicide and self harm (ACDT).
Hours
37.5 hours a week, working 8-6pm Monday to Friday, 3 or 4 shifts a week and 2 weekends in every 5. Working on a rolling shift pattern from Monday to Sunday.
Salary
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £49,175 per annum, depending on experience.

As a Senior Mental Health Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will:
- Be responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients’ mental health needs.
- You will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
- Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
- You will play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient’s care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.
- Inspire excellence in your colleagues by pro-actively leading and motivating the team, recognising that our workforce is our most valuable asset.
- Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning.

Qualifications:
- Registered nurse – Mental Health
- Current professional qualification (NMC)
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
- Experience of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
- Leadership experience
- Understanding of mental health policy including clinical governance and the quality and outcomes framework, along with national standards such as NICE
- Ability to assess and manage patient risk effectively
