Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable, organised and detail-focused Cook / Kitchen Assistant to join our team at MONA’s.
This is a long-term position for someone who is comfortable working in a structured kitchen environment, follows instructions carefully, and supports service with consistency and care.

Responsibilities:
- Preparing and cooking dishes by following MONA’s exact recipes and methods
- Assisting with daily kitchen prep
- Supporting service with tasks such as frying samosas and papadums, preparing chaats and assembling dishes
- Support the kitchen team with meal preparation, ensuring timely and efficient service
- Help with food plating and presentation to enhance the visual appeal of each dish
- Cutting and preparing salads and ingredients efficiently and accurately
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation at all times
- Following all food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures strictly
- Maintain a clean working environment before, during and after all cooking and preparing duties.
- Taking note of inventory/stock levels and informing senior staff of low stock levels.
- Work flexible shifts on rotation
- Be able to multi-task as you will have a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
- Work closely and effectively with other team members whilst maintaining respect and be able to assist in training of new members when needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen areas, including storage and work surfaces
- Support serving staff during busy periods by ensuring smooth food delivery from kitchen to table
- Prepare food for dine in and delivery/pick up orders
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a restaurant or similar setting
- Strong knowledge of ingredients, especially related to Indian and Turkish cuisine
- Strong knife skills and confidence with basic prep
- Ability to follow recipes exactly without deviation
- Good understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling
- Food Hygiene Level 2 and allergen awareness
- Reliable, consistent and able to work calmly under pressure
- A positive attitude and willingness to support the team
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent teamwork skills and willingness to support colleagues as needed
- Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with kitchen staff and front-of-house team
