About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our Stockport team. You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day business operations, coordinating teams, improving operational performance and ensuring that resources, workflows and service standards remain aligned with commercial objectives.
This role is suited to someone who is comfortable managing multiple priorities, working across departments and turning operational data into practical improvements.

Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations: Oversee day-to-day operational activities and ensure workloads, priorities and resources are managed effectively.
Team Leadership: Provide direction to operational teams, set clear expectations and support employees in achieving performance targets.
Performance Management: Monitor operational KPIs, identify trends and implement corrective actions when performance falls below expectations.
Process Improvement: Review existing workflows and develop improvements that increase productivity, quality and efficiency.
Resource Planning: Ensure appropriate staffing, equipment and operational resources are available to meet business requirements.
Budget Control: Support operational budgeting, monitor expenditure and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
Supplier Coordination: Work with procurement and external suppliers to maintain continuity of materials, services and operational support.
Quality and Compliance: Ensure operational activities follow internal procedures, quality standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
Risk Management: Identify operational risks, develop contingency plans and support business continuity initiatives.
Stakeholder Management: Communicate operational priorities, performance and improvement plans to senior management and other departments.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: Ideally 5–8 years of experience in operations, manufacturing, industrial services, technology operations, logistics or a related environment, including experience supervising teams or projects.
Operational Management: Strong understanding of workflow management, resource planning, service delivery and performance improvement.
Leadership: Experience managing or coordinating teams, setting priorities and supporting employee development.
Commercial Awareness: Ability to understand how operational decisions affect cost, quality, customer service and profitability.
Analytical Skills: Comfortable working with performance reports, budgets and operational data to support decision-making.
Problem Solving: Able to assess operational issues quickly and develop practical, sustainable solutions.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
Organisation: Ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines and operational priorities in a structured manner.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in engineering, manufacturing, technology or industrial services.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous-improvement methodologies.
- Experience with ERP, CRM or operational management systems.
- Strong Excel skills and experience producing operational reports.
- Familiarity with Power BI or similar reporting platforms.
- Experience managing third-party suppliers or contractors.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements in operational environments.
- Experience with budgeting and cost-control activities.
- Previous involvement in business continuity or operational risk planning.
- Experience leading process-improvement or transformation projects.
You do not need to meet every desirable requirement. If you have strong operational experience, good commercial judgement and a track record of improving performance, we would be interested in hearing from you.
