Rather than simply responding to requests, you will learn how to identify customer challenges, understand market dynamics, and recognise where new opportunities may exist.
You will work closely with marketing, engineering, and operations teams to support technical sales activity and grow global markets.
Responsibilities
- Support and qualify inbound enquiries from customers and distributors
- Build and maintain customer relationships
- Maintain accurate CRM records and customer communication history
- Learn about customer applications, technical requirements, and commercial challenges
- Support the sales process from initial enquiry through to quotation and follow-up
- Support preparation of quotations, proposals, and supporting technical documentation
- Work closely with engineering, marketing, and operations teams to support customer requirements
- Attend customer meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and demonstrations as required

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Organised and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities
- Proactive, adaptable, and willing to learn
- Strong attention to detail and administrative accuracy
- Must have the right to work full time in the UK
Desirable criteria
- Degree qualified, or working towards a degree, in engineering, physics, photonics, or a related technical discipline
- Previous internship, placement, retail, hospitality, or customer-facing experience
- Exposure to engineering, scientific, or manufacturing environments
- Interest in lasers, photonics, optics, or scientific instrumentation
- Experience attending conferences, exhibitions, or networking events
Pay: £27,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
