Scope of the Role
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Interim Maintenance Manager to ensure the hotel and its facilities are maintained to the highest standards.
This is a highly guest-focused role requiring a friendly, organised and proactive individual who can effectively manage both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance. You will be responsible for ensuring the hotel remains safe, compliant and fully operational while supporting an excellent experience for our guests and colleagues.
The successful candidate will be expected to quickly assess the current maintenance operation, identify immediate risks and priorities, and implement practical actions to maintain statutory compliance, operational continuity and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out and oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across hotel plant, equipment and facilities.
- Respond promptly and effectively to reactive maintenance issues and plant breakdowns, including out-of-hours support when required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical records relating to PPM, statutory checks, servicing and emergency breakdowns.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure the hotel, guest areas and facilities remain safe, functional and maintained to a high standard.
- Ensure hotel plant, equipment and systems are operating effectively and meeting operational and guest requirements.
- Take responsibility for the routine maintenance of plant and equipment across the Hotel Spa.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Health Safety, Fire Safety and statutory requirements.
- Conduct and record regular fire alarm tests and other required safety checks.
- Take ownership of maintenance compliance, ensuring all statutory records, certifications, inspections and testing remain current, accurate and audit-ready at all times, including water hygiene, fire safety and PPM requirements.
- Support and coordinate maintenance projects and departmental works as required.
- Lead and coordinate the maintenance team and external contractors on site, setting priorities, allocating work and ensuring activities are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
- Manage external contractors, including safe working arrangements, site coordination and quality control, ensuring contracted works are completed to specification and hotel standards.
- Monitor maintenance spend and support effective cost control, ensuring value for money when procuring parts, repairs, specialist services and contractor support.
- Take ownership of asset protection and longevity, identifying preventative actions and investment priorities that safeguard the hotel’s infrastructure, plant, equipment and facilities.
- Ensure the smooth and reliable operation of guest facilities, minimising disruption wherever possible.
- Monitor and respond to maintenance-related guest feedback, investigating recurring issues, implementing corrective actions and protecting guest satisfaction.
- Produce maintenance, compliance and operational reports as required.
- Provide practical assistance and technical support to colleagues and other departments.
- Deliver staff training on relevant equipment, maintenance procedures and safe working practices.
- Develop strong working relationships with hotel teams and work collaboratively across departments.
- Create a positive, proactive and can-do culture, leading by example and taking ownership of issues through to resolution.

You will also demonstrate:
