Biology Tutor – Robocode Long-Term Programme
Robocode is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and confident Biology Tutor to join our Long-Term Programme (LTP).
The successful candidate will deliver engaging, challenging and well-structured Biology sessions, helping students develop their subject knowledge, confidence, exam technique, problem-solving skills and enjoyment of Biology.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum Grade 7 in GCSE Biology or equivalent
- Grade A or above in A-Level Biology or equivalent
- Strong Biology subject knowledge
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Confident speaking and presenting to groups
- Ability to explain complex biological concepts clearly and effectively
- Good classroom management skills
- Reliable, organised and professional
- Energetic and enthusiastic when working with students
- Able to adapt teaching to different abilities and learning styles
- Passionate about helping students learn and succeed
Highly Desirable
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Current or previous experience working as a Biology Teacher in a school
- Experience delivering the UK Science Curriculum
- Experience planning and delivering lessons independently
- Experience assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback
- Previous student tutoring experience
- Experience preparing students for GCSE or A-Level examinations
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality and engaging Biology lessons
- Plan and prepare appropriate activities, resources and learning materials
- Make lessons enjoyable, interactive and challenging
- Support students who require additional help
- Challenge students who are working at a higher level
- Develop students' scientific knowledge, reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Support students with exam preparation and exam technique
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Create a positive, safe and supportive learning environment
- Communicate effectively with students, parents/carers and colleagues
- Maintain good classroom behaviour and professional standards
- Work as part of the wider Robocode team
- Follow all Robocode safeguarding, health and safety and behaviour procedures
DBS & Safeguarding
As this role involves regular work with children and young people, the successful candidate will be required to complete an appropriate DBS check before commencing work, in line with Robocode's safeguarding requirements.
Candidates must be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and must be able to provide the required documentation and references as part of the recruitment process.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is confident, approachable, enthusiastic and passionate about Biology and education.
You should be able to build positive relationships with students while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations. You will need to communicate effectively, make complex biological ideas easy to understand and adapt your teaching to the needs of different students.
A qualified and experienced Biology Teacher would be highly desirable, as would previous experience tutoring students.
Most importantly, we want someone who genuinely enjoys working with young people and can bring energy, positivity and enthusiasm to every session.

Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
