Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker Apprentice to support the delivery of youth work programmes that promote the personal, social, and educational development of young people. This is a training role where the postholder will learn and develop skills in youth work practice while completing the Level 3 Youth Support Worker Apprenticeship, which includes the Level 3 Diploma in Youth Work Practice.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work alongside qualified youth workers to engage young people aged 10–19 (up to 25 with additional needs) in a variety of settings.
- Assist in planning and delivering sessions, projects, and events that reflect young people’s needs and interests.
- Follow safeguarding procedures at all times.
- Promote equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practices.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and activities under supervision.
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation processes as part of learning.
- Support volunteers and help with basic administrative tasks.
- Attend regular supervision and training sessions as part of the apprenticeship programme.
- Comply with health and safety regulations and departmental policies.
- Undertake other duties relevant to the role as required.
Supervision
Regular supervision and guidance from a qualified Youth Worker.
Structured learning plan as part of the apprenticeship.
Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours:
- Building relationships and trust with young people.
- Understanding group dynamics and informal education methods.
- Safeguarding and promoting welfare.
- Communication techniques (verbal, written, digital).
- Awareness of societal influences and community engagement.
- Collaborative working with multi-agency partners.
End Point Assessment: Conducted by an approved body.
Enhanced DBS check required.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Interest in working with young people and supporting their development.
- Willingness to learn and undertake training.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and equality principles.
Desirable
- Experience (paid or voluntary) working with young people.
- Basic understanding of youth work principles.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
Special Conditions
Evening and weekend work will be required.

Commitment to completing the Level 3 Youth Support Worker Apprenticeship Standard, which includes:
Duration: Approximately 21 months.

Pay: £26,225.00 per year
