The Role
The primary purpose of this role is to lead and manage the Finishing and Material Handling operations, ensuring production targets are consistently achieved or exceeded. The role will focus on driving safety, quality, and efficiency while promoting teamwork across departments and shifts. A key responsibility will be to develop staff capability, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and align departmental performance with the company’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all Health and Safety standards are maintained at the highest level whilst promoting a safe working environment.
- Lead, motivate, and direct all shifts to deliver and exceed production goals.
- Promote teamwork and cooperation across departments and shifts.
- Manage the Finishing department and Material Handling section, ensuring efficient material flow and resource utilisation.
- Train, develop and mentor lead operators and crew members to achieve operational excellence and succession with support from internal / external trainers.
- Develop and implement departmental goals aligned with company objectives.
- Monitor performance, measure progress, and adjust plans to achieve agreed output levels.
- Maintain and enhance knowledge of manufacturing systems, material flow, quality control, and process control techniques.
- Recommend, support, and oversee the introduction of new equipment, processes, and maintenance technologies.
- Define clear performance expectations, coach staff, and carry out regular performance reviews.
Key Skills
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a management or supervisory role within manufacturing.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to set and deliver departmental priorities.
- Proven ability to apply business and management expertise to achieve operational and financial objectives.
- Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop teams.
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing systems, quality standards, and process improvement techniques.
- Analytical thinking with the ability to assess performance data and make informed decisions.

Minimum Training Requirement
