Overview
To provide pastoral care alongside the ministers of the St Austell Methodist Circuit, supporting the existing range of pastoral work in the churches and among volunteers in a defined section of the Circuit including individuals in care homes, as appropriate and agreed with staff and churches involved.
Main responsibilities
· To work with the ordained ministers in providing pastoral care and support in all aspects of the life of the church including care homes.
· To work closely with colleagues identifying priorities for pastoral visiting and communicating these to them.
· To share responsibility for, and be responsive to, the pastoral needs of people in church organisations and groups.
· Attend regular meetings with the Line Manager and Management Support Group. (Other meetings only to be attended when specially requested).
· To be familiar with and conform to, the agreed safeguarding procedures and requirements of the Methodist Church
· Using best practice, keep adequate and regular records of contacts and of work undertaken; filling in time sheets weekly, and submitting expenses claims.
· Any other duties and responsibilities, identified by the ordained minister as are within your capabilities and level of responsibility, in order to meet the needs of the church.
The post is:
Part Time (20 hours per week)
Salary - £15.00 per hour
Fixed Term Appointment for 3 years from 1st September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter

There is an occupational requirement that the person appointed is a practising Christian. An Enhanced DBS Disclosure and the completion of Safeguarding training at Advanced level will be required for the post-holder.
Pay: £15.00 per hour
