About the Role
Emperia College is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced GCSE English Tutor to teach students preparing for their GCSE English Language and/or English Literature examinations. We have opportunities for both online and in-person tuition.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons, build students' confidence, improve their reading and writing skills, and help them achieve their full potential in GCSE examinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach GCSE English Language and/or English Literature through one-to-one and small group sessions, both online and in person.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual student needs.
- Develop students' reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, creative writing and analytical writing skills.
- Prepare students for GCSE examinations using revision techniques, past papers and exam-style questions.
- Mark students' work and provide constructive feedback to support their progress.
- Monitor student performance and maintain accurate attendance and progress records.
- Communicate professionally with parents and the college where required.
Requirements
- Degree in English or a related subject (or equivalent experience).
- Experience teaching or tutoring GCSE English.
- Strong knowledge of the GCSE English Language and/or English Literature curriculum.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to teach effectively both online and in a classroom environment.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
