We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable person to oversee the operation of our BBQ Cooking Academy at BBQ Land. The ideal candidate will have experience in and around kitchens and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. As our BBQ Academy Leader, you will be responsible for maintaining food hygiene and cleanliness standards, working with our chefs, assisting on every cooking class, ordering food/supplies and a range of operational tasks to ensure the BBQ Academy meets its operational goals.

The BBQ Academy is a core pillar of our offering, and we're looking for a true partner to take ownership of the cooking school and to enhance it's operational quality. While you'll assist on every class largely by washing up and playing sous chef, you'll also be responsible for the customer experience, ordering, cleanliness and more. You’ll be trusted with significant responsibility and exposure across the business.
> WHAT YOU'LL DO
Assist on BBQ Cooking Classes (Hitchin Display Showroom):
Pretty much every Saturday and Sunday we host BBQ classes from 10am-2pm. You'll be responsible for being onsite at 8am to open up through to closing up around 4pm.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the BBQ Academy space is laid out properly, clean and tidy;
- Welcoming guests, preparing coffee and checking-in guests
- Assisting the BBQ chefs prepare food (eg chopping herbs, cooking chorizo)
- Washing up during and after the class including full clean-down
- Taking rubbish bags to the bins and tidying up the BBQ Academy space.
Food & Supplies Ordering:
You will be responsible for ensuring that our classes have all the food required ordered and delivered in on time:
- Grocery orders from Waitrose and Ocado
- Meat orders from various suppliers
- Drinks orders from various suppliers
BBQ Layout & Cleaning:
Each class requires a different selection of BBQs to be on display. Your role is to:
- Ensure BBQs are cleaned after each class
- Organise for BBQs to be moved around in plenty of time for the next class.
Food Hygiene:
It is essential that the BBQ Academy abides by all relevant food safety standards. You will be responsible for:
- Site cleanliness
- Food labelling and disposal
> SKILLS
- Proven experience in food environments - whether catering, food service or elsewhere, you must be competent with basic food preparation.
- Food Hygiene certifications
- Enthusiastic, friendly personality who can make people feel welcome
- High degree of initiative and ability to be self-starting and to work autonomously
- Interested in BBQs - this is what we are the national experts in, so you'll need a deep understanding of the product and passion for outdoor cooking

- Sat 8.30-4pm
- Sun 8.30-4pm
- 5 hours during the week (flexible Mon - Fri)
