Recruitment Solutions are working with a market leading Distribution company who are seeking a dedicated and skilled HGV Class 2 Driver to join their Transport team in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to safety and efficiency, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the highest standards of service. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to execute multi drop deliveries, unloading and loading stock (with a Drivers Mate) while adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies.
Working Hours/Days/Pay
- Monday to Friday
- £16.66 per hour
- 4:30am Start - Job and Finish (Normally latest of 2pm finish)
- 45 hours per week paid - less than 45 worked typically each week
- Temp to Perm (after 12 weeks)
Duties
- Safely drive and operate a HGV Class 2 Vehicle for the transportation of goods.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in good working condition.
- Load and unload stock, ensuring proper handling and securing of materials.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage logs and delivery confirmations.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while on the road.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.
- Perform basic mechanical checks on vehicles as needed to ensure operational efficiency.
Experience/Requirements
- Previous experience as a delivery driver or in commercial driving is preferred.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations is advantageous.
- Physically fit - able to load/unload stock from Truck
- A valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle type being operated is essential.
- Strong communication skills are required for effective interaction with team members and clients.
