We’re hiring a Community Outreach & Programme Coordinator
At the Andrew Simpson Foundation, our mission is to transform lives through sailing and watersports. Through our programmes, we help young people and their communities build confidence, develop skills, improve wellbeing, and connect with others.
We’re looking for an organised, proactive, and customer-focused RYA Senior Instructor to join the team at Andrew Simpson Centre Portland as our new Community Outreach & Programme Coordinator.
About the Role
This is a varied role combining community outreach, programme support, sales and marketing, customer service, and centre administration.
You’ll take responsibility for the customer journey from initial enquiry through to delivery, helping to maximise bookings, develop sustainable income, and build strong relationships with customers, community groups, and local partners.
Working closely with the Centre Manager and Chief Instructor, you’ll also support the delivery of our programmes, provide guidance to the instructor team, and act as Duty Manager when required. You’ll work alongside our central marketing and fundraising teams to promote the centre, develop local opportunities, and help more people access the benefits of sailing and watersports.
As the role includes supporting the safe and effective delivery of activity programmes, applicants must hold a valid RYA Senior Instructor qualification.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate the customer journey for individuals and groups, from initial enquiry and booking through to delivery and follow-up.
- Help drive bookings and income by developing new opportunities and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers.
- Build relationships with schools, community groups, charities, partners, and other local organisations.
- Work with our fundraising team to connect eligible groups with funded and subsidised opportunities.
- Support the development and delivery of local marketing campaigns, events, digital content, and promotional materials.
- Provide regular content for the centre’s website and social media channels up to date, working with the central marketing team.
- Manage booking systems, customer communications, and day-to-day centre administration.
- Support the Centre Manager and Chief Instructor with the smooth running of the centre.
- Assist with programme delivery and provide guidance and support to the instructor team.
- Act as Duty Manager, facilitating staff briefings and debriefings and supporting session planning.
- Attend community, marketing, and fundraising events, including occasional evening and weekend activities.
