Intro
The data landscape is moving quickly. AI, advancing tools, and new ways of working are changing what’s possible, and what businesses expect from their data teams. Are you keeping up? We are.
We’re looking for a Senior Data Analyst with a proven track record of owning substantial data projects, managing senior stakeholders and getting difficult work delivered. But we’re also looking for someone who wants more: more variety, more responsibility, more exposure to different industries, technologies and business problems. Someone who is equally comfortable leading a client engagement and rolling up their sleeves to build the solution.
What the work looks like
Our clients tend to come to us because they have an important problem to solve rather than a neatly defined piece of analysis to complete.
Part of your job is therefore working out what the problem actually is. You’ll spend time with leadership teams understanding how their business makes money, where growth comes from, how they currently use data and where the biggest opportunities or constraints are. From there, you’ll scope the work, agree priorities and build a practical roadmap for delivery.
You’ll then be responsible for making it happen. Depending on the engagement, that could include:
- Designing and building scalable data models in SQL and dbt
- Carrying out deep analysis of customer behaviour, growth drivers etc
- Designing KPI frameworks that leadership teams can actually use
- Designing and building dashboards and analytical workflows
- Exploring and implementing AI and agentic workflows
- Working with data engineers on architecture and implementation decisions
- Presenting to senior stakeholders and helping turn the output into action.
The important part is that you won’t just own the analysis. You’ll own the problem through to delivery.
Who we are looking for
You’re likely to be a strong fit if you can point to substantial projects that you have personally helped take from an ambiguous starting point through to a working solution and measurable business impact.
Consulting experience is particularly useful because you’ll already be accustomed to learning new businesses quickly, managing clients, balancing competing requirements and delivering high-quality work to a deadline. However, it isn’t essential. We’re equally interested in people who have worked in-house and taken genuine ownership of significant data projects.
Technically, we’re looking for:
- Advanced SQL and a strong understanding of data modelling
- Hands-on experience with modern analytics engineering tools such as dbt
- Experience with BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks etc
- Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, Metabase or Power BI
- Solid knowledge of data quality, testing and the realities of messy data
- Ideally, some experience with Python, ML, LLMs, AI agents or agentic.
Just as importantly, you need to be able to communicate complex ideas simply, manage senior stakeholders confidently, make sensible decisions when the answer isn’t obvious, and keep a project moving when requirements change or the data turns out to be messier than expected.
We’re looking for self-starters. There is plenty of support and collaboration within the team, but at this level we expect you to investigate, form a view, make recommendations and move things forward rather than wait to be given a detailed set of instructions.
Who are 173tech?
173tech turns data into direction. Founded by the team that led analytics at Bumble from idea to a $3bn exit, we bring senior data talent to ambitious businesses that want to move faster and build capabilities that last.
We work as an extension of our clients' team; combining strategy, analytics and engineering to deliver measurable value.
Why work with us?
The main reason to join 173tech is the quality and variety of the work. In an in-house role, it is easy to become very knowledgeable about one business, one stack and one way of doing things. Here, you’ll repeatedly have to get to grips with new businesses, datasets and technologies, while still going deep enough to deliver measurable business value.
That matters particularly now. The way companies use data is changing quickly as analytics engineering, AI, LLMs and agentic systems develop. We spend a lot of time testing new approaches, understanding what is genuinely useful and applying it to real client problems. If you want to stay close to that change rather than periodically trying to catch up with it, then 173tech is the right place for you.
You’ll also work unusually close to the people making the decisions. Our clients include PE-backed and high-growth businesses where we regularly work directly with founders, CEOs, CFOs, investors and leadership teams. Good work is visible, and you can see the effect it has on the business.
Our projects range from focused four-week engagements to partnerships lasting several years. We generally work across one or two clients at a time, which gives you variety without constantly jumping between superficial pieces of work.
What we offer
- £60,000 - £70,000 base salary
- Up to 25% performance bonus (£15,000 - £17,500)
- Remote-first, with one day per month together in central London
- £500 annual learning budget
- Vitality healthcare
- Additional holiday after two years
- Weekly knowledge sharing and monthly team get-togethers
Just as importantly, you need to be able to communicate complex ideas simply, manage senior stakeholders confidently, make sensible decisions when the answer isn’t obvious, and keep a project moving when requirements change or the data turns out to be messier than expected.

If you’re an experienced analyst who enjoys taking ownership of difficult problems, wants to work directly with ambitious businesses and would like to keep developing your craft as data and AI change around us, we’d be very interested to hear from you.
