Environment & Sustainability Advisor Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Enabling and Earthwork Section.
What will you do?
- Deliver value adding environmental support to project and support ecological enhancements, where applicable
- Assist in maintenance of environmental management plans and associated documentation
- Provide on-site advice to all site teams on environmental management, environmental compliance and project specific mitigation measures including Pollution Prevention & Control and monitoring of ecological protection
- Assist in the investigation of environmental incidents and support the project to implement controls to prevent repeat occurrence.
- Deliver environmental training and preparation of toolbox talks and communications campaigns
- Complete regular site inspections for the purpose of maintaining site environmental compliance and workforce engagement and guidance, providing advice and support to operational teams on environmental and sustainability matters
- Assist in reporting E&S metric deliverables and measurable KPIs
- Attend Project meetings with both internal colleagues and the Client
What are we looking for?
Essential:
- Good knowledge of Environmental Management and sustainable Development
- Educated to degree level in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, preferred
- Practical civil engineering site experience at an environmental level and an understanding of environmental legislation, pollution prevention & control measures in varying situations, waste management, environmental Permits and ecology mitigation measures
- Understanding of the Construction, Civil Engineering operating environments
- Good interpersonal skills – keen to engage and learn from all levels of the site teams to understand ongoing operations from an environmental perspective
- Keen to have an ongoing dialogue with the site teams during inspections to get the environmental message across, ensuring the teams understand what they need to do and why
- Full UK driver’s licence and flexibility to travel
- Literate in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
Desirable:
- ISEP or other Environmental Auditor qualification
- ISEP Membership to or working towards Practitioner Level
