About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Production Planner to join our growing fabrication team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and scheduling fabrication activities, with a particular focus on laser cutting operations and nesting optimization to maximize material utilization and production efficiency.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional with experience in sheet metal fabrication and laser cutting environments who can effectively coordinate production schedules, material requirements, and manufacturing resources to meet customer delivery expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain production schedules for fabrication and
manufacturing operations.
- Generate and optimize laser cutting nests to maximize material
yield and minimize waste.
- Plan and schedule laser cutting, bending, welding, machining, and
assembly activities.
- Coordinate workload and priorities across production departments.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to meet customer
deadlines.
- Ensure raw materials and components are available to support
production plans.
- Work closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Quality
teams.
- Analyse machine capacity and resource availability to improve
workflow efficiency.
- Maintain accurate production data and planning records within
ERP/MRP systems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase
productivity and reduce costs.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience as a Production Planner within a fabrication,
sheet metal, or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with laser cutting and nesting software.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing
environment.
Desirable:
- Experience with nesting software such as SigmaNEST, RADAN, BySoft,
Lantek, TruTops, or similar.
- Knowledge of CNC laser cutting machinery.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Qualification in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, or Supply
Chain Management.
