We're a busy neighbourhood Premier convenience store and we're hiring a part-time Store Assistant to help us keep the shop running, stocked and looking great.
This is a busy, hands-on role. A large part of the job involves stocking shelves and chillers, rotating stock, moving deliveries, cleaning and being on your feet throughout the shift, as well as serving customers.
We want to be clear about what the role involves so that you know what to expect before joining us.
This is not a role where you will only be working on the till. You will be expected to regularly:
- Stock shelves and chillers
- Rotate stock by date and check dates carefully
- Lift and move boxes and deliveries
- Face up and keep shelves looking full
- Clean and tidy the shop
- Serve customers and use the till, card machine and PayPoint
- Stay active and on your feet for most of the shift
The shop can get busy and the work can be fast-paced.
Reliability is extremely important to us. We are a small team, so when somebody doesn't turn up for a shift or leaves after only a few shifts, it has a big impact on everyone else.

What you'll be doing
- Stocking shelves and chillers, facing up and rotating stock by date (FIFO) so the shop always looks full and fresh
- Serving customers on the till, card machine and PayPoint
- Checking ID for age-restricted products using Challenge 25
- Helping unload, move and put away deliveries
- Checking dates and maintaining good stock rotation
- Keeping the shop clean, tidy and welcoming
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and punctual — someone who turns up for every agreed shift and arrives on time
- Friendly and comfortable speaking with customers
- Hard-working and willing to get stuck in
- Comfortable doing physical work and staying active throughout a shift
- Happy working as part of a small team
- Honest and trustworthy
- Able to follow instructions and work without needing constant supervision
- 18 or over
Previous convenience store, supermarket or retail experience is strongly preferred.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
