UK News Editor

About the Role:
International Business Times UK is seeking an experienced and motivated UK News Editor to oversee content production, manage a growing contributor network and drive audience growth across our UK news coverage.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Editor and collaborate with the Editorial Recruitment team to recruit, develop and manage writers and contributors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write a minimum of 20 news articles per month.
- Copy edit and fact-check articles submitted by contributors and staff writers.
- Collaborate with the Editorial Recruitment team on writer onboarding and development.
- Train and mentor intern writers to improve editorial standards and productivity.
- Create topic guides, editorial briefs and content recommendations for writers.
- Monitor content performance and identify opportunities for traffic growth.
- Maintain editorial quality, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
- (Preferred but not required) Conduct podcast-style video interviews from the office.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in journalism, digital publishing, or news editing (at least 2 years).
- Strong copy-editing and proofreading skills.
- Excellent understanding of UK news and current affairs.
- Experience managing writers, contributors, or editorial teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced digital newsroom environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Familiarity with SEO and audience growth strategies is desirable.
- Video interviewing or multimedia experience is a plus.
