Job Description
What's in it for you?
As Events Manager, you will own and deliver a high-quality, commercially driven events programme across three of our brands: Octopus Investments, Octopus Ventures, and Octopus Capital. From financial adviser roundtables to founder dinners, portfolio showcases, and institutional investor briefings, you'll be the driving force behind events that build relationships, generate leads, and strengthen our reputation across multiple distinct and genuinely different audiences.
This is a varied and fast-moving role. One week you might be managing logistics for a roadshow across multiple cities; the next, you're coordinating a flagship evening event for Octopus Ventures' founder community. You'll work closely with marketing, distribution, investment, and communications teams across all three brands, bringing strong project management, a sharp commercial instinct, and real attention to detail to everything you do.
We operate in a regulated environment, so it's important that events activity is delivered in line with financial promotion rules and consistent with each brand's standards — but that doesn't mean there isn't room to be ambitious about what great looks like.
What will you be doing?
Own, plan, and deliver the end-to-end events programme across Octopus Investments, Octopus Ventures, and Octopus Capital, aligned to each brand's commercial and marketing objectives.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve, evolve or challenge the events strategy, bringing new ideas forward and taking ownership for driving them through to delivery.
Manage the full event lifecycle — from initial brief, venue sourcing, and supplier negotiation through to on-the-day logistics, delegate management, and post-event follow-up.
Own and actively manage a forward-looking events pipeline, making trade-offs, prioritising effectively and ensuring focus remains on the highest-impact activity.
Partner with marketing, distribution and investment teams to shape event strategy, challenge briefs where needed, and ensure events are set up to succeed commercially.
Own budgets across the full events programme, tracking spend, maximising value from suppliers, and demonstrating clear return on investment.
Manage relationships with external venues, agencies, production partners, and technology providers — negotiating effectively and maintaining high standards of delivery.
Lead on digital and hybrid event delivery, including webinars and online roundtables, working with the digital team to maximise reach, registration, and engagement.
Ensure all events activity complies with financial promotion rules and is delivered to brand guidelines across each Octopus brand.
Produce post-event reporting and insight, with clear metrics on attendance, engagement, and commercial outcomes — and use that data to continuously improve the programme.
Identify new event formats and opportunities that could build brand awareness, deepen existing client relationships, or support new business development across the three brands.
Provide stakeholders across the business with clear, proactive visibility of the events pipeline — managing expectations, escalating risks, and keeping projects on track.
Keep a close eye on industry events and competitor activity to ensure Octopus shows up where it matters and stands out when it does.
Work closely with the wider marketing team to stay aligned across campaigns and activity, and support on projects when resource requires it.
Qualifications
Ideally, you'll have:
✅ Proven experience planning and managing B2B events end-to-end, ideally in financial services or professional services.
✅ Strong project management skills — comfortable running multiple events simultaneously across different audiences, brands, and timeframes.
✅Strong bias for action – comfortable making decisions, taking ownership and driving outcomes in a fast-paced environment
✅ Budget ownership experience, with a track record of delivering high-quality events on time and within budget.
✅ Excellent stakeholder management, with the confidence to work across senior teams and multiple business lines.
✅ Experience sourcing and managing external suppliers, venues, and agencies.
✅ Hands-on experience with digital and hybrid event delivery, including webinars and streaming platforms.
✅ A high attention to detail — from delegate communications to on-the-day logistics, nothing slips through the net.
✅ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
✅ An understanding of working in a regulated environment, and the ability to produce events activity within financial promotion rules.
We encourage you to apply even if you don't tick every box. What's the worst that can happen?
This role will evolve as we grow and develop. So, if you're looking for a challenge in a fast-paced and dynamic business, we can deliver on that.
