Gilkes is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Warehouse Operative (FTC) to join our head office in Kendal, Cumbria, for a 4-month summer placement to provide support during this period.
Reporting to the Despatch and Warehouse Supervisor, you will be responsible for processing inventory received from internal and external suppliers. The role will be a mixture of goods in and main stores. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure production and assembly requirements are met correctly and on time.
The working hours are Monday to Thursday: 07:45 to 16:30 and Friday: 08:00 to 12:30 (with a 30 minute unpaid lunch daily).
The Role
- Picking material for machining and build
- Dealing with customer orders
- Ensure all safety objectives are observed
- Receive, inspect, and process inventory from internal and external suppliers
- Booking in and out of inventory using computerised inventory control system
- Assist department with identifying obsolete inventory
- Identify shortages on delivery notes

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- GCSEs in English & Maths at Grade 6 (A-C) or equivalent
- You will need to be computer literate
- You will have exposure to a similar working environment e.g. industrial or manufacturing
- Working knowledge of technical systems
- Forklift truck experience is desirable
