Across government, the use of data and artificial intelligence is rapidly moving from experimentation into mainstream delivery. AI is no longer a future ambition; it is a critical capability that enables organisations to make better decisions, improve services and respond more effectively to complex regulatory and operational challenges. At Ofgem, this shift presents a significant opportunity to enhance how we deliver for consumers, strengthen decision-making and support the transition to a more secure, fair and sustainable energy system.
Ofgem plays a vital role in protecting energy consumers and enabling the UKs journey to Net Zero. As expectations on the organisation continue to grow, so too does the need to harness data and AI in a more coordinated, strategic and impactful way. Within the Digital, Data and Security Services (DDSS) directorate, we are building the foundations to embed data-driven decision making and scale the use of AI across the organisation, ensuring that innovation translates into real, measurable outcomes.
About the role
As AI Transformation Lead, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering Ofgems AI transformation agenda. You will oversee a complex portfolio of products, services and initiatives, coordinating multiple delivery teams to ensure that the organisation can effectively leverage data and AI tools. This is a high-impact role that combines programme leadership, stakeholder influence and delivery oversight, with responsibility for driving progress, managing risk and ensuring that transformation activity delivers tangible value.
This is a role with real breadth and visibility. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, including specialists in benefits realisation, change and engagement, and will work across organisational boundaries to align priorities, manage dependencies and maintain delivery momentum. Operating in a fast-evolving space, you will need to balance ambition with practicality, ensuring effective governance, strong delivery practices and clear communication across both technical and non-technical audiences.
