We’re now looking for an experienced FLT Driver & Yard Operative to join our Hire Operations Teams at Garic’s Reading Depot.
The Role
As a FLT Driver & Yard Operative you will be required to work in & around the Reading depot. You will be responsible for the safe loading and un-loading of plant assets on all vehicles within the yard.
This role is key to ensuring units are moved around to a high standard, in a timely manner to fulfill customers’ expectations. Working alongside the yard operational teams to support the overall hire process and depot activities as required
Applicants must have previous experience of working with light motor vehicles in workshops or Yard-based environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe working environment and assure compliance with all safety rules.
- Improve and sustain housekeeping, reporting all observations to help support the Garic Health & Safety culture
- Daily & Weekly FLT checks and defect reporting in line with legislation
- Ensure all vehicles are loaded with the correct equipment within the required deadlines.
- Responsible for managing workload of hires going out and coming into the yard.
- Monitoring of all products ensuring the quality standards are at the required high standard
- Control of returned products ensuring all items are marshalled in the correct area within the yard.
- Support the Depot Supervisor with day today hire and depot operations as required
- Ensure all orders processed through this location are completed & loaded on time and in full
- Liaise between operations, transport, workshop & washbay teams to ensure accuracy and order completion
- Provide information on stock availability and stock movement within the yard area
- Support with stock control for both products and consumable items.
- Support the depot management team to work in line with our company values
- Challenge poor behaviour in the right way and provide regular feedback to the team.
- Maintain a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Counterbalance Forklifts Category B3 Trucks over 15 tonnes.
- Experience of working in the plant/hire industry
- Awareness of Health and Safety legislation
Desirable
- Relevant Health and Safety Qualification
- Relevant operator certification e.g. CPCS Plant Operator
