We are about to embark on an ambitious programme of change in our city centre. Residents and businesses are telling us that our city centre needs to be safer and cleaner, and we are listening. We’re going to start by recruiting local people who know the city and want to help it reach its full potential. If you are someone who wants to make a difference, our city centre needs you!
To be able to support our city to be thriving and vibrant, we are looking to recruit City Centre Engagement Officers to join our team. Our staff work covering seven days on a shift pattern which includes early starts, late evening finishes, weekend and Bank Holiday working. The jobs in the city centre focus on engaging with members of the public and working in partnership with residents, businesses, visitors and other public, voluntary and faith sector organisations.
The post holder must possess excellent communication skills and will be required to work with multiple agencies to ensure that the correct support and advice is given to residents, business, and users of the city centre, and as such, apply problem-solving daily in these challenging and rewarding roles. You must also like the outdoors and being highly visible on the street.
To support the growth and vitality of our city, the roles will:
Provide highly visible public engagement, support, reassurance, information, advice and guidance with city centre users, residents and businesses.
Gather information, intelligence and provide support to partners to support early intervention, prevention, enforcement and compliance within the city centre.
Work with partners to provide a visible presence and effective responses to address anti-social, unseemly and criminal behaviours in the city centres, making effective use of the City Centre PSPO.
Identify, plan, deliver and/or advise on day-to-day problem solving in the city centre focussed on prevention and early intervention to seek a timely resolution.
Provide support for the planning and delivery of city centre events and/or events linked to civil emergencies.
Ensure safety and cleanliness of the city centre and town centres, including the upkeep of equipment and street furniture is maintained.
