The Role
We are looking for an experienced 18-tonne, HGV Class 2 driver with full CPC based in or around the South Yorkshire are to take responsibility for transferring stock between our sites in:
- Rotherham
- Gateshead
- Dartford
- Bristol
This is not a multi-drop customer delivery role. The successful candidate will work to a fixed, routine schedule, transporting stock exclusively between The Panel Company’s locations.
The driver will play an important role in ensuring that stock is transferred safely, accurately and on time. They will also be expected to take ownership of the day-to-day stock transfer process, working closely with the warehouse and logistics teams at each site.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving an 18-tonne vehicle between company locations
- Completing scheduled stock-transfer routes between Rotherham, Gateshead, Dartford and Bristol
- Ensuring stock is collected and delivered safely, accurately and on time
- Checking stock-transfer paperwork and confirming quantities at collection and delivery
- Taking ownership of the stock transfer system and reporting any discrepancies
- Communicating effectively with warehouse and logistics teams across all sites
- Ensuring goods are loaded, secured and transported safely
- Assisting with loading and unloading where required
- Completing daily vehicle safety and compliance checks
- Reporting vehicle defects, delays, damages or stock issues promptly
- Maintaining accurate driving, delivery and compliance records
- Keeping the vehicle clean, secure and professionally presented
- Complying with drivers’ hours, Working Time Directive requirements and all relevant road transport legislation
Essential Requirements
- A minimum of a valid Category C driving licence, also known as an HGV Class 2 licence
- Previous experience driving a HGV.
- A valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence
- A valid Digital Tachograph Card
- A strong understanding of drivers’ hours and road transport regulations
- Experience transporting and handling commercial stock
- The ability to manage paperwork and maintain accurate records
- A reliable, organised and responsible approach to work
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of the stock transfer process
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple warehouse teams
Desirable Requirements
- A valid counterbalance forklift licence
- Previous experience in a stock-transfer, trunking or inter-depot driving role
- Experience working within a warehouse, distribution or logistics environment
A forklift licence is preferred but is not essential for this position.
