Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Yard Hand to join our team. This role involves assisting with materials handling, and general yard maintenance. The successful candidate will support the efficient movement of goods and materials, ensuring safety and organisation within the yard environment. Previous experience in warehouse management or construction is advantageous, along with mechanical knowledge and familiarity with forklift operation.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment, including forklifts
- Handle materials safely and efficiently within the yard areas
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on yard equipment and tools
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard area to promote safety standards
- Assist with general construction or repair tasks as required
- Support team members in logistical tasks such as moving large or heavy items
- Making sure the yard and Garage and in a good clean and tidy state.
- Vehicle washing
Qualifications
- Previous experience is preferred but not essential; willingness to learn is important
- Mechanical knowledge or experience with construction sites is advantageous
- Valid forklift licence or willingness to obtain one is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good physical fitness, able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Basic understanding of materials handling, shipping & receiving procedures
