World Fuel is seeking an experienced and hands-on Mobile HGV Technician to support our aviation refuelling operation based at London Gatwick Airport.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled HGV mechanic looking for a varied role involving vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, breakdown response, and travel across the UK.
You'll play a vital role in maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of our aviation refuelling fleet, helping ensure airlines receive a safe and uninterrupted fuel service.
Working from Gatwick, you'll also provide mobile maintenance support across our wider UK network whenever required.
As a Mobile HGV Technician, you'll be responsible for ensuring our refuelling fleet remains safe, compliant, and operational.

Carry out preventative maintenance, inspections, servicing, and repairs on aviation refuelling vehicles.

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.

Complete scheduled maintenance in line with manufacturer and company requirements.

Respond to vehicle breakdowns and urgent maintenance issues.

Conduct defect diagnosis, root cause analysis, and corrective repairs.

Ensure all maintenance work is accurately recorded and completed on time.

Maintain vehicles in accordance with company standards and Joint Inspection Group (JIG) requirements.

Ensure vehicles remain roadworthy, compliant, and available for operation.

Support vehicle inspections, audits, and compliance activities.

Identify opportunities to improve vehicle reliability and reduce downtime.

Work closely with operational teams to minimise disruption and maximise fleet availability.

Provide maintenance support across other UK airport locations when required.

Assist with out-of-hours support and emergency call-outs where necessary.

Promote the highest standards of Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SSHE).

Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.

Identify and report hazards, defects, and improvement opportunities.

Participate in incident investigations and corrective action programmes where required.

Minimum 5 years' experience in HGV, LGV, commercial vehicle, or fleet maintenance.

Recognised mechanical qualification.

NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Vehicle Maintenance, or a related discipline.

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

Experience working independently and managing priorities effectively.

Good IT and record-keeping skills.

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Full UK driving licence.

Flexible approach to travel, overtime, and operational requirements.

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or Vehicle Maintenance.

HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.

ADR qualification (training can be provided for the right candidate).

Experience maintaining fuel tankers or specialist commercial vehicles.

Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Experience in aviation, fuel, logistics, transport, or other safety-critical environments.

Understanding of COMAH regulations and similar safety standards.
