Location: Leicester Central
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £27,500 per annum
We’re working with a welcoming nursery in Leicester that is looking for an experienced Baby Room Leader to take the lead within its baby room.
This is a great opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys working with babies and understands the importance of creating a calm, nurturing and engaging environment during those crucial early stages of development.
The baby room has capacity for 12 children, with around 8 children typically attending each day. You’ll be joining two established practitioners who know the nursery and its families well, but the team now needs a confident and experienced leader who can provide direction, support and bring the room together.
The wider nursery has a stable team and low staff turnover, and while occupancy is currently lower than its overall capacity, there are plans to grow the setting. This means there is plenty of opportunity for the right Baby Room Leader to make their mark as the nursery develops.
Your Role
As Baby Room Leader, you’ll take day-to-day ownership of the baby room, working closely with your team to provide consistently high standards of care, learning and development.
You’ll be hands-on within the room while also providing the leadership, organisation and guidance needed to ensure the team works effectively together.
You’ll have the opportunity to bring your own ideas, strengthen practice and help create an environment where babies feel safe, secure and encouraged to explore.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the day-to-day running of the baby room
- Supporting and guiding two established members of the team
- Creating a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment for babies
- Planning engaging, age-appropriate experiences in line with the EYFS
- Supporting babies’ individual routines, development and emotional wellbeing

- Building strong relationships with parents and carers
- Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, safety, cleanliness and organisation
- Coaching and supporting practitioners to develop their confidence and practice
- Working closely with the Nursery Manager and wider leadership team
- Playing an active role in supporting the nursery as occupancy grows
