ROLE DETAILS:
- Job title: Overnight Emergency Care Response Officer
- Employed by: Tuvida East Midlands
- Responsible to: Care Planning Officer
- Responsible for:To work as part of the Overnight Emergency Care Response team in the community, providing health and social care and support to patients and their carers.
- Working hours: Full time 35 Per week. Shift pattern is based on a 3 on/3 off pattern, from 8pm to 8am with a 1-hour unpaid break.
2 PURPOSE OF POST:
- Provide timely care and support to vulnerable people in emergency situations when they need it, be ready and responsive to provide the required care and support through the night.
3 PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To identify and provide the general care needs of service users and, when appropriate request referrals to suitable partner agencies including voluntary and statutory agencies, and raise safeguarding where it is felt that a service user needs additional support which can’t be wholly met by Tuvida.
- To assess and risk assess each emergency care requirement
- Responding to emergency telecare calls as quickly, effectively and as safely as possible by assessing the reason for the call, its urgency and to take swift and suitable action in accordance with procedures once in attendance.

- Previous experience of developing person-centred support plans and risk assessments
- Quick thinking, able to work on own initiative
- Ability to respond to service users’ needs
- A sympathetic nature with the ability to display empathy and warmth
- Able to stay calm in emergency/stressful situations
- Ability to solve problems that are not immediately apparent
- Ability to develop solutions to reduce identified risks
- Excellent communication skills
- Produce and maintain accurate records
- To be able to work as part of a team, supporting colleagues and providing a flexible service
- To respect the personal choice of lifestyles of colleagues, carers and people with care needs, ensuring that equal opportunities principles are applied at all times
- Support all services to meet business needs
- Confidence in driving in the night and potentially in bad weather
The ideal candidate must have the following qualifications or experience:
- Experience in a community based care setting – minimum 1 year
- Level 2 minimum in Health and Social Care
- Sound understanding of good care principles
- Access to own transport, this is essential for this role
Person Specification
- Good standard of basic education
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- Evidence of patient care and/or relevant training
- NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in Health and Social Care
Previous Experience
- Experience of working with the general public
- Evidence in areas involved in direct client/customer interface
- Previous experience in health or social care setting
- Experience of working within a team
- Experience of being appraised and identifying own training needs
