We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer who will be part of the maintenance team and whose responsibility it will be to maintain and repair equipment, vehicles and machinery to ensure the safe and efficient running of the farm. This includes mechanical maintenance work of the anaerobic digestion plant, which is responsible for maximising electrical generation for use on the farm.
This role will involve:
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment, vehicles and machinery to ensure reliable operation
- Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns across equipment and machinery
- Identify worn, damaged, or failed components requiring replacement
- Ensure correct fitting, alignment, and sealing of replacement components
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdown, failures and emergencies
- Carry out urgent repairs or temporary fixes to restore operations quickly
- Respond to ad-hoc maintenance requests to support smooth farm operations and reduce downtime for example building maintenance and farm and parlour maintenance
Skills and Requirements:
- Mechanical, engineering or maintenance background which includes working with pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves etc
- Experience in preventative maintenance and repairs
- Able to think practically under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills
As part of this position, you need to be comfortable working in an outdoor environment which has exposure to noise, odours and biological waste.
This role would suit someone who has previously worked as agricultural technician or vehicle technician or a maintenance engineer who has experience of working with machinery and breakdowns. Perhaps you are a mechanical fitter who has experience of working with motors, gearboxes, pumps etc. If you have a mechanical background and are familiar with performing preventative maintenance and repairing or replacing parts and components, we will welcome your CV.
The hours of work are 40 hours a week – Monday to Friday 8.30 – 17.00 with a 30-minute unpaid lunchbreak.
The salary for this position is £30,000 – £40,000 per year (depending on experience and the requirement for accommodation – room in shared house available)
