Support Salary: £17,254 actual salary (£24,203 FTE)
Contract: 1 YEAR FIXED TERM Hours: 30 hours per week
Working Pattern: Term time including INSET days (39 weeks per year) Start Date: 1st September 2026

About the Role
Darrick Wood Infant & Nursery School is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Para Professional (TA) to support children with special educational needs within our nurturing and inclusive school environment.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and caring practitioner to work closely with teaching staff, families and external professionals to support pupils in achieving their full potential. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering targeted support, helping children to access learning, develop confidence and thrive both academically and socially, both within the classroom and through targeted intervention and nurture provision.
Darrick Wood Infant & Nursery School is a vibrant infant and nursery school located in Orpington, within the London Borough of Bromley. Set within beautiful grounds, our school benefits from extensive outdoor learning opportunities, including Forest School provision. Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with special educational needs both in and out of the classroom
- Work closely with the SENCO, teaching staff and external professionals to support pupil progress
- Deliver targeted learning and intervention support for individuals and small groups
- Support individual programmes and learning targets set by teachers and external agencies
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and carers
- Liaise effectively with external professionals, including therapists and support services
- Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils’ emotional, social and academic development
- Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school

- Experience working with children with SEND within a school or educational setting
- Strong understanding of inclusive practice and supporting pupils with additional needs
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals
- Patient, calm and adaptable approach when supporting children
- Flexible and adaptable approach to supporting the changing needs of pupils
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive attitude to supporting learning
