Essential Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) Licence.
- Proven experience driving HGV Class 1 vehicles, ideally flatbed trailers.
- Experience safely loading, securing, and transporting a variety of loads.

- Good geographical knowledge and ability to plan routes efficiently.

About the Role
We are seeking a professional and safety-conscious HGV Class 1 Flatbed Driver to join our team. This role involves the safe and efficient transportation of goods across multiple locations, ensuring deliveries are completed on time and to the highest standards of service.
The successful candidate will be an experienced commercial driver who takes pride in their work, understands the importance of load security and vehicle compliance, and can represent the business professionally when interacting with customers.
Key ResponsibilitiesDriving & Deliveries
- Operate a Class 1 flatbed vehicle safely and professionally in accordance with all road traffic legislation and company procedures.
- Complete deliveries and collections efficiently while maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Plan routes effectively to maximise efficiency and minimise delays.
Load Security & Vehicle Safety
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload goods, ensuring loads remain stable and compliant throughout transit.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and pre-use inspections, identifying and reporting any defects or safety concerns.
- Ensure the vehicle is maintained in a clean, roadworthy, and professional condition.
Compliance & Administration
- Complete all required documentation accurately, including delivery notes, defect reports, tachograph records, and driver paperwork.
- Maintain compliance with driver hours regulations, working time directives, and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with transport planners and dispatch teams regarding delivery progress, delays, or operational issues.
Health & Safety
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures at customer sites and company locations.
- Follow safe manual handling practices and ensure all loads are secured using the correct equipment and techniques.
- Promote a strong safety culture at all times.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience in commercial driving, ideally operating flatbed trailers.
- Be confident in securing loads using straps, chains, and other restraint systems.
- Demonstrate excellent awareness of road safety and transport legislation.
- Be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Have strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Take pride in delivering exceptional customer service.
- Be flexible and willing to adapt to changing operational requirements.
Desirable Experience
- Previous flatbed transport experience.
- Experience within logistics, haulage, or transportation environments.
- Knowledge of abnormal or specialist loads.
- Forklift or plant loading experience (where applicable).
