Main purpose:
This role will ensure the effective procurement of materials, components, and services, working with relevant internal stakeholders and suppliers to drive procurement operational excellence. Working with relevant internal stakeholders and suppliers to drive procurement operational excellence.The selected candidate will procure materials using an MRP tool and understand what parts need to be purchased to support production, work to receive parts on time, at the most competitive cost possible, and meeting all specifications. They will also expedite parts within a very tight timeline, work with quality, engineering, design, and logistics personnel to replace defective parts ASAP and re-source parts as needed. There may also be special projects assigned to continuously improve site performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and issue purchase orders and make necessary changes, including obtaining quotes, negotiating costs, payment terms and all other related issues.
Procure a variety of goods and services in accordance with company policies in an MRP/ERP environment.
Expedite and track required parts or processes to support production schedules.
Negotiate long term contracts, ensuring continuity of supply and that budget targets are maintained.
Analyse and process supplier notifications.Analyse and process supplier notifications
Identify potential new suppliers, develop new and alternative sources of supply, and carry out transfer of work as per the defined process.
Continually monitor, evaluate, and report on the performance of suppliers.
Provide a central contact point for multiple project teams to deliver the objectives for new product introduction projects.
Serve as a liaison between internal customers and suppliers.
Assist in resolving supplier related quality issues.
Ensure best practice purchasing techniques.
Perform any other related task as required.
Experience and Qualifications:
Preferably CIPS Qualified with 3 +years’ experience in a similar role within the automotive sector.
Strong Negotiator.
Tenacious problem solver.
Computer literate (includes presenting information) in MS Office programmes including Excel (Vlookup, pivot tables etc.) and MS Project.
Must be able to demonstrate initiative and be able to prioritise workload and make decisions. under pressure, as an individual and as part of a team.
Must possess excellent attention to detail.
