Overview
We, Coburn & baker, are about to open a point of sale/ cafe at our Modern bakery in Bevendean. Our bakery is located in a leafy part of Brighton, with an unusual amount of natural light and workspace.
This is an exiting progression for our brand and a chance to make a closer connection to with customers and the local community.
We are seeking a dedicated and Prep Chef to join our savoury section . The ideal candidate will assist our 2 existing chefs to prapare and Salads, sandwiches, and bake Pizzas, finish various items to be sold on the day.
Candidates should have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of food safety standards, and a genuine appreciation and joy of working in a kitchen.
The candidate may be asked to help the serving or manning the coffee machine.
Duties
- Assist in preparing for daily service to include deep frying, baking and preparation.
- Support the cooking team
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in accordance with food safety regulations
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency in meal preparation
- Help with other food preparation tasks.
- Ensure all food handling procedures comply with health and safety standards
- Assist with stock rotation and inventory checks to minimise waste
- Support the team during busy service periods by ensuring timely preparation of dishes
Experience
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen or restaurant environment is preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary practices is advantageous
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and hygiene standards is desirable
- Experience in meal preparation and working with various kitchen equipment will be beneficial
- Serving experience or customer-facing roles within hospitality can be an asset but are not mandatory
- Any experience as a barista will be an advantage.
This role provides an excellent platform for aspiring chefs/Bakers to gain practical experience in a dynamic kitchen setting. We value enthusiasm, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude towards learning new skills.
This part time position can turn into a full time employment or a further development at our Bakery.
The Candidate will be starting their work at 7am and finish at 11am 0r 12am Monday to Friday.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £33,250.00-£34,000.00 per year
