About Us
- Dreamhouse (A.E.) Construction and Development is a long-established family property, construction and development business that has operated successfully for over 42 years.
- We are involved in a broad range of activities spanning property acquisition, development and the management and maintenance of existing property assets.
About The Role
- As the business evolves, we are creating a new Development Associate role to work directly with the Managing Director across his functions on real projects, operational challenges and investment decisions.
- Unlike many larger organisations, responsibilities will not be narrowly defined.
- Rather than working within a single department or function, the successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of activities across construction and business operations.
- This provides an unusual opportunity to learn how a business operates as a whole whilst developing a broad and transferable skill set.
- We will invest significant time, training, trust and responsibility in the successful candidate.
- We are looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to learn, develop and grow with the business over the long term.
Examples of work may include:
- Assessing potential property opportunities.
- Visiting construction sites, gathering information and preparing summaries.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and planning documents.
- Coordinating information between contractors, consultants and suppliers.
We Are Looking For Someone Who Is:
- Intelligent, curious, organised and reliable.
- Comfortable learning unfamiliar subjects.
- Able to communicate clearly in writing and in person.
- Willing to take ownership of tasks and follow them through to completion.
We are primarily interested in your ability to learn, think clearly and communicate effectively.
Before Applying, You Should Be Comfortable With:
- Reliably and consistently working our standard business hours of 7:30am–4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
- Living within a practical commuting distance of London and travelling independently to our site office and project locations.
- Occasionally working modest additional hours when unusual business circumstances require it (with appropriate compensation).
Nature of the Work
- Learning technical aspects of construction and business operations.
- Working with numbers, spreadsheets and written reports.
- Working on construction sites and interacting professionally with all stakeholders.
- Managing multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining attention to detail.
- Remembering and applying information from previous meetings, discussions etc.
Working Style
- Taking responsibility for tasks and following them through to completion.
- Receiving direct feedback and learning quickly from mistakes.
- Working collaboratively as part of a team: listening carefully to others, understanding different perspectives and communicating professionally.
- Operating effectively when not every problem has an obvious answer or established process.
