Cygnets is a fine art school franchise for children, based in the UK. We teach traditional drawing, painting and sculpture, combined with unique projects, experienced teachers, and professional quality materials. Classes are run for ages 5-12 after school and weekends during term time, as well as every half term and school holiday.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Children’s Art Teaching Assistant to support our teachers in delivering engaging and well-structured art lessons. This role is ideal for someone who loves working with children and has a passion for art, even if they are not an experienced artist themselves. You will help set up the classroom, assist students during lessons, and ensure each class runs smoothly.
This is a freelance position with flexible hours, providing an excellent opportunity to gain experience in an educational and creative environment.
Hours
Term-Time:
Mondays - 3:15pm-4:15pm - Haywards Heath
Fridays - 3:15pm-4:15pm - Burgess Hill
Key Responsibilities
- Help set up and tidy the classroom before and after each session.
- Welcome students and assist them in settling into class.
- Ensure students follow project instructions and keep up with the lesson.
- Provide encouragement and support to children throughout the session.
- Follow the teacher’s instructions and assist wherever required.
- Help students with tasks such as washing hands and tidying materials.
- Monitor student engagement and ensure they remain focused during lessons.
- Take children to the toilet when necessary and assist with any basic needs.
Requirements
- A passion for art and working with children.
- Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and assist in a structured learning environment.
- Experience with children is beneficial but not essential.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Pay
- Assistant - £15 Per Class (You will be expected to help set-up before class and tidy up after class included in this rate.)
