What You’ll Do
As a Test and Development Technician, you’ll work in a vehicle test and development department focused on buses. Based within our Farnborough workshop, you’ll support practical vehicle test programmes from preparation and build through to fault-finding, modification, and test support.
You’ll work closely with Test & Development Engineers on full-size buses, including prototype, pre-production, and development vehicles. Typical work will include electrical and mechanical build, vehicle strip and rebuild, installation of test equipment and instrumentation, diagnostics, fault-finding, and engineering modifications.
This is a hands-on, varied role working with modern bus technology cover EV, hybrid and diesel platforms, both on site and in support of external test and proving activities.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an experienced, practical technician with a strong electrical and mechanical background, ideally gained on buses, coaches, commercial vehicles, HGVs, specialist vehicles, or other complex engineering products. You should be confident reading technical information, diagnosing issues, using workshop equipment, and working safely around vehicle systems.
The right person will be proactive, self-motivated, and able to take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision. You’ll enjoy solving problems, asking the right questions, keeping work moving, and supporting a busy test schedule while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and teamwork.
Bonus if you have:

Experience working on buses, coaches, HGVs, commercial vehicles, or specialist vehicles
- Experience supporting vehicle testing, development builds, prototype work, or engineering modifications

Exposure to EV or hybrid systems, including high‑voltage and CAN networks

Experience with vehicle instrumentation and data logging systems

PSV or HGV driving licence

Background in related sectors such as rail, aerospace, marine, mobile plant, or tier‑1 suppliers
