Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Counter Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring smooth operations at the counter. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, good organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
- Serve customers promptly and courteously at the counter, taking orders accurately
- Assist with food preparation and presentation to ensure quality standards are met
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the counter area in accordance with food safety regulations
- Handle cash transactions and operate point-of-sale systems efficiently
- Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities while providing excellent customer service
- Manage stock levels and notify management of shortages or replenishment needs
- Follow all food safety protocols and hygiene standards diligently
- Support kitchen staff during busy periods to ensure timely service
- Provide information about menu options and dietary considerations to customers
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food handling
- Experience in serving customers with professionalism and friendliness
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately
- Kitchen or culinary experience is advantageous but not mandatory
- Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods
- Ability to upsell menu items confidently to enhance customer experience and sales potential
