As our heat network portfolio continues to expand rapidly, this is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team at the forefront of developing and delivering our in-house metering and billing service.
We are looking for an organised, commercially aware and customer-focused professional to support the delivery of accurate billing, robust metering systems and an excellent customer experience. This role offers the opportunity to directly contribute to the growth of L&Q Energy while helping thousands of residents receive reliable and efficient heat services.
Reporting to the Heat Metering and Billing Manager, you will assist in managing all heat metering and billing activities across the L&Q Energy portfolio. You will play an important role in developing our in-house metering and billing service, supporting business objectives to bring services in-house where possible, improve operational efficiency and reduce debt risk to the business
Your impact in the role:
As Heat Metering and Billing Officer, you will:
- Support the development and continuous improvement of our in-house metering and billing platform and customer experience.
- Assist in delivering the programme to bring heat metering and billing activities in-house in line with the L&Q Energy Business Plan.
- Support the commissioning, testing and sign-off of metering systems for new developments, including the installation and activation of communications infrastructure.
- Assist with the setup and management of heat customer accounts, including tenancy changes and customer onboarding.
- Help maintain the accuracy, integrity and reporting of heat meter data across the L&Q Energy portfolio.
- Monitor meter connectivity and system performance to ensure reliable remote meter readings and accurate billing.
- Support retrofit and replacement programmes for heat meters where required.
- Help ensure the timely production of accurate bills and contribute to debt reduction initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, suppliers and service providers to deliver excellent customer outcomes.
- The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented and motivated to drive continuous improvement. You will have the confidence to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
This role may be required to participate in standby and call-out arrangements, including occasional work outside normal working hours and weekends.
What you'll bring:
- Knowledge of communal and district heating systems and heat metering and billing.
- Strong project management skills and experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Financial and commercial awareness with experience managing income, budgets or performance data.
- Experience developing, monitoring or reporting against performance measures and KPIs.
- Procurement, supplier or contract management experience.
- Strong analytical skills with experience working with large data sets and producing reports.
- Proactive and creative approach to problem solving.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and positive customer outcomes.
