The University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint a Research Governance Officer to join the Research & Enterprise team. This is an important role supporting the University’s commitment to enabling high-quality, internationally connected research while ensuring that activity is conducted safely, responsibly and in line with relevant regulatory requirements.
Working within the Research Governance team, you will provide specialist administrative and coordination support across export control, Trusted Research and associated compliance processes. You will support academic and professional service colleagues to navigate requirements in areas including export control legislation, the National Security and Investment Act, the Nagoya Protocol and the Human Tissue Act.
The postholder will work closely with the Research Governance Manager to support the effective day-to-day operation of export control processes. This will include responding to routine enquiries, maintaining accurate records, coordinating compliance workflows, supporting Denied Party Screening checks, and assisting with the preparation of documentation for licence applications through systems such as SPIRE and LITE. You will also support training activity, audits, inspections, policy reviews and the continued improvement of administrative systems and guidance.
You will be a key point of contact for colleagues seeking support with research governance and export control matters, helping to gather relevant information, signpost to appropriate guidance and escalate complex issues where required. The role will involve regular liaison with researchers across a range of disciplines, including advanced materials, robotics, engineering, biosciences and other areas of internationally collaborative research.
The successful candidate will have strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be confident working with data, documentation and administrative processes, and able to manage competing priorities effectively. Experience of research administration, higher education or regulatory compliance would be advantageous, together with an awareness of export control and Trusted Research requirements.
