As a Communications Apprentice, you'll gain hands-on experience across a range of communications disciplines while working towards a nationally recognised qualification in Digital Content Design.
You'll support meaningful projects that help us connect with colleagues, customers and communities across south Wales, developing valuable skills in content creation, digital communications, social media, design and engagement.
Please note: We're unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. This is a 24 months full time (37.5 hrs) programme that will begin in January 2027.
What you'll learn and how we'll support you :

You'll work towards a nationally recognised Agored Cymru Level 3 Diploma in Digital Content Design with one of our trusted apprenticeship training partners.

You'll gain practical experience across a variety of communications functions, including internal and external communications, media and PR, digital communications and content creation.

You'll learn through hands-on experience while working alongside supportive and experienced communications professionals.

You'll benefit from coaching, mentoring and regular development conversations to support your growth and career aspirations.

You'll take part in our Early Talent Development Programme, joining a network of apprentices and colleagues across Hafod.
This role involves regular travel across our sites and services. While a driving licence isn’t essential, many of our locations are not easily reached by public transport, so being able to drive and use your own vehicle is often the most practical way to travel.
If you use your own vehicle for work, you’ll need appropriate insurance (for example business use).
If you don’t hold a licence or don’t have access to a vehicle, we’d still encourage you to apply. We’re happy to have a conversation with you about how you could still meet the travel requirements of the role.
What you'll be doing

Supporting the planning and delivery of internal and external communications campaigns.

Supporting website content updates and digital communications activities.

Helping create digital content, including graphics, video and photography, using approved templates and design tools.

Supporting communication projects through research, content gathering and administrative tasks.

Acting as an ambassador for apprenticeships and supporting careers events, engagement activities and campaigns.

What you'll bring

You don't need previous professional communications experience. What matters most is your attitude, willingness to learn and creativity.

Who can apply?
If you're thinking about applying, here are a few things to help you decide if this apprenticeship is right for you.

You’re aged 16 or over. Some apprenticeships may have a higher minimum age where this is needed for safety or service reasons.

You have a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths (A* -C)
-
You’re not studying towards another qualification when the apprenticeship begins, as this programme requires strong commitment to both work and learning.
-
You do not already hold a qualification at the same or higher level in the same subject area as this apprenticeship.

You can start the apprenticeship in January 2027

We'll review all applications and if you're shortlisted, you’ll be invited to attend one of our relaxed and friendly assessment days, followed by a final interview at St. Hilary Court, Cardiff.
If you're successful at the end of the recruitment process, we'll offer you the role and begin your pre-employment checks.
This includes confirming your right to work and completing a DBS check, which we’ll organise and pay for.
