Building Engineer / Assistant Project Manager
Our client is seeking a proactive and ambitious Building Engineer / Assistant Project Manager to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within construction project management while working on a diverse range of projects across the UK.
Working alongside experienced Project Managers, the successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating projects, managing site activities, and helping to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate construction projects from inception through to completion.
- Manage site installations on projects located throughout the UK.
- Monitor and coordinate site staff, subcontractors, and suppliers during the design, construction, and handover phases.
- Support capital projects, including principal design, specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
- Prepare component specifications and assist with purchasing activities.
- Support project planning, scheduling, and programme management.
- Select, coordinate, and manage contractors and subcontractors.
- Monitor project costs and maintain cost schedules against agreed budgets.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company procedures, current legislation, and Health & Safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, records, and progress reports.
- Provide practical, hands-on operational support on site throughout project delivery.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience within the construction or building services industry.
- A degree in civil engineering
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and practical approach.
- A good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Previous experience in project coordination, site engineering, construction management, or a similar role would be advantageous but is not essential for the right candidate.
