Job Description
Position Title : Café Leader, 35 hours per week
Location: Café Neuro. Buckfastleigh
Responsible for: The day to day running of Café Neuro activities
Responsible to: Social Enterprise Manager
Principle Objective
· To work with people we support and volunteers to run Café Neuro as part of the Social Enterprise.
Main Responsibilities:
· Maintaining food safety standards
· Maintaining hygiene standards including cleanliness in kitchen and café area.
· Maintaining records – Safer Food Better Business
· Serving customers - Ensuring excellent customer service, greeting, taking orders accurately, handle any complaints professionally.
· Food preparation – preparing hot and cold food and beverages (including operating coffee machine)
· Overseeing training activities for people with learning disabilities
· Training and supporting volunteers in the café
· Handling both cash and card payments using EPOS system
· Stock management using EPOS system.
· Preparing orders for provisions.
· Maintaining health and safety of the environment, including COSHH, report and record any concerns
· Maintain the health and safety of individuals working and visiting the café, report and record any concerns
Participate in the opportunities provided for training and development
· Participate in regular supervisions: to receive support, increase knowledge, identify training needs, evaluate work performance, aid and assess professional development.
· Participate in an annual appraisal co-ordinated by your line manager.
· Attend staff development programmes, training courses, seminars and workshops as required.
Work within, and promote, the policies and procedures of Camphill Devon
· Be aware of and follow the policies and procedures.

· Undertake any duties consistent with the overall purpose of the post as directed by the Social Enterprise manager or the Workshop Manager.
Personal specifications:
Qualities: Willing to learn, take instructions and work under own initiative, supporting others working in the environment. Excellent Customer services skills, Efficient reliable and flexible
Experience: Working in a catering / hospitality environment. General catering duties , including food preparation and cooking.
Skills: Ability to multitask, good mental arithmetic for handling cash, and strong communication skills, IT skills
Knowledge. Health and hygiene requirements in relation to food preparation, storage and cooking. Food allergens and handling Stock rotation and expiry dates. Operational duties within a cafe/catering environment. Safe operation of kitchen tools and equipment.
Attitude: An enthusiastic, friendly, and professional demeanour is required.
Flexibility: There will be times when you will be asked to help with events outside regular working hours. This can be negotiated as time in lieu or additional pay.
Understanding and willingness to support people with learning disability in the Cafe: Desirable experience supporting people with learning disability as this will be an integral part of the purpose of the Café. Training will also be provided.
Pay: £25,552.80 per year
