Summary of the Role
The Training Manager for Apprenticeships leads the quality, delivery and performance of HSA's apprenticeship training in heritage engineering and classic vehicle restoration. The role combines curriculum leadership, line management of the tutor team, and leading Ofsted readiness, ensuring outstanding outcomes for apprentices and employers.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy
- Line manage the Tutor and Technician team, including regular supervision, appraisals and CPD planning.
- Lead scheduling and the delivery calendar across all sites.
- Ensure safeguarding, Prevent and EDI are embedded across delivery.
- Lead Ofsted readiness and quality assurance review (QAR), and contribute to Senior Management Team strategic planning.
Curriculum and Quality
- Lead curriculum development across the Mechanical and Coachbuilding programmes, reviewing content annually against employer needs.
- Lead standardisation across all sites and promote consistent teaching and assessment practice.
- Monitor, observe and mentor Tutors to improve teaching, learning and assessment, in line with the IQA process.
- Manage EPA tasks and apprentice readiness.
- Carry out RPL reviews and manage applications with complex needs, such as EHCPs, alongside the Recruitment team.
- Ensure apprentices falling behind receive appropriate support and intervention.
Team and Resources
- Ensure workshops are equipped with the vehicles, rigs, tools and consumables needed for high quality delivery.
- Manage procurement at Bicester within budget, and oversee the training vehicle fleet
- Provide the General Manager with performance information, risks and improvement actions.
Must Have Skills and Experience
- Industry experience of historic and classic vehicles.
- Experience of leading or managing a team of tutors or trainers.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship standards, EPA and Gateway requirements.
- Experience of internal quality assurance (IQA) processes.
- A teaching or assessing qualification (e.g. AET, CAVA, or equivalent).
- Experience supporting Ofsted inspections or quality assurance reviews.
- Strong organisational skills, with experience managing schedules or resources across multiple sites.
